Corona virus (COVID-19) is a serious pandemic which has led this whole world in its grip today. Having evolved from Wuhan province of China to many developed and underdeveloped countries of the world, it has been killing thousands of people every single day. The number of deaths and infected people caused by corona virus is a great concern that has raised a question mark to the existing human civilization of this universe. Increasing number of infected persons all over the world and lack of effective vaccines and medicines have severely increased the threat to the people. Talking about its symptoms, most infected people will develop mild to moderate illness causing fever, dry cough, tiredness and headache. The infectious people ranges from the age group of a newly born infant to the old. Most importantly, the people over 60 are likely to be more affected by this virus. Not only this, persons who are underlying with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease and cancer are more prone to develop serious illness.
In order to be prevented from this worldwide pandemic, many countries of the world has chosen lockdown and self isolation to be the best preventive measures. In this great devastation of corona, Nepal is also not left isolated. Therefore, our government too has locked our country from Chaitra 11 till now partially opening the emergency services to slow down the spread of the virus. Long lasting lockdown in the country has led all the offices, institutions including schools and all public places to be closed since 3 months. But the infection does not seem to stop and give a relief to the people. Instead it is tremendously increasing terror in people. Despite the fear of the virus, people are protesting against lockdown in fear of food.
As nearly 1200 Nepali people have committed suicide because of financial problem. Having proved to be the unity time with family members and merry making to the people with savings, this corona lockdown has become a severe curse to the needy people who are starving everyday for food. One week donation package from the government has just become a drop in the ocean to them. Corona pandemic has affected the daily lives of people declining the economic stability too. Many industries, institutions and organizations are long been affected by lockdown and so are the employees. The academic institutions too are greatly influenced by it. Many schools have been utilized as the isolation centers by the government today. The new cases of infection in Nepal is raising higher daily that has led people to be more selfish. In this extreme period, socialization among people seems to have changed into isolation and fraction criticizing those infected victims with disgust. Though this lockdown has bound many families stronger, it seems unable to firm the unity among neighbors in many villages of Nepal due to fear of being infected by corona.
Many people are unsuccessful to give help and show their humanity to the infected one. Fear is a natural human response to any threat. This corona threat cannot be overthrown individually. It can be overcomed together as this is a question of solidarity. This cannot be solved alone. It requires all of us working together to ensure good co-operation not only for the virus but also for the living virus that exists in our body to fight everyday with food. In this crisis, we also should join hand in hand and should include the habit of washing hands, maintaining physical distance, using masks as well as sanitizers as the prime principles to combat corona. Therefore, let us be united as we were before. Corona is a fear unless we don’t fight against it. It will remain existed until we don’t promote both unity and immunity in us. So, lets fight against Corona following health precautions; not to afraid of merely.
