The government has clarified that Nepal has no border dispute with China.The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Thursday stating that the news on the border dispute was based on a report by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, but that such a report did not exist. The Ministry of Agriculture has also stated that border issues do not fall under its jurisdiction, the foreign ministry said in a statement. Similarly, the Ministry has stated that the boundary pillars numbered 37 and 38 have not been kept. The foreign ministry said that the pillars were not included in the agreement between the two countries due to natural causes.
The border between Nepal and China is determined by the border agreement signed between the two countries on October 5, 1961.
The foreign ministry also said in a statement that any border issues would be resolved through mutual understanding between the two countries.
The Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement on Thursday that the report based on the border dispute between Nepal and China had not been published by the ministry.
“As the report based on the news has not been published by this ministry and the subject matter is not even under the purview of the ministry, all concerned are informed that there is no truth in the news,” said Secretary Rajendra Prasad Bhari in a statement.
